Snow Day
For most people it started snowing Sunday morning for most of the day before it even started to stick. Except for where I live in Auburn, it was just rain or rain and snow mix for most of the day. I even drove to Puyallup to get my nails done and the snow was just dumping over there. All day Sunday I decided to mess around with my boyfriend about choosing the only place to live that doesn't get any snow. By 6:30 pm it really started to snow then soon enough it started sticking, and as the inches kept coming I was beyond excited to start playing in the snow.
Of course I was the one to initiate the snowball fight with my boyfriend and our roommates. They were a bit distracted from building a snowman, so they were easy targets in the beginning. After awhile we went outside with the dogs and they have never seen the snow this deep before. They were prancing around the yard, chasing each other and eating tons of snow. Their favorite game would to catch snowballs and I enjoy getting pictures of them catching them. We also took our RC cars out for a bit and made a little track in the alleyway, but the snow ended up becoming to deep and the cars couldn't handle it.
By Monday morning I ended up getting a snow day from work and also wouldn't be able to make it to class. But my boyfriend still had to go to work, even though he got stuck getting out of our driveway and his cousin actually had to come pick him up. I was really hoping he could have gotten a snow day but when your work is literally 5 minutes down the street and you have family with four wheel drive you still have to go to work. After he left for work, I ended up getting the pups geared up to go on a walk to get coffe from Starbucks since I wasn't even going to attempt leaving our driveway. They were so ecstatic to have a little miniature adventure just for coffee, but it wasn't just for me to get coffee, they are so spoiled they got cups of whip cream known as pupachino's.
My Worst Injury
Over last summer, I was at work and went downstairs to switch the laundry. On my way back up the stairs my clumsy self ended up tripping upstairs. In the moment, I didn't really think to much of it as it's very normal for me to be clumsy and hurt myself. After a couple of hours went by I decided to look at my ankle and foot for any bruising. As soon as I took my shoe off my ankle instantly bruised and swelled up. It ended up being so painful that I could not put any pressure on my foot and I actually was in tears from the pain. So of course it was the right foot so I was unable to drive myself to Urgent Care. Then I ended up having my boyfriend come pick me up from work so I could get it checked out. While at Urgent Care the doctor said that I would need x-rays done to see if I broke anything. About an hour goes by for my x-rays to go through and turns out I didn't break anything, I just had a very severe sprain. The pain was still unbearable and I couldn't walk on my foot at all, so the doctors gave me a set of crutches (which was very hard to maneuver). A few days went by and my ankle was completely better with no further issues. That was the closest I have ever become to breaking a severe part of my body. I have broken my toes many times from stubbing them into tables and chairs but nothing really severe, which is a shock for how clumsy I can be.

Standard Poodle's
Standard Poodle's are another one of my favorite breeds and there are many reasons as to why. One reason why is that they are highly intelligent dogs who are very quick learners that live to please. Also, they are extremely fun to groom, most people tend to think they are a foo foo type of dog due to the hair cut they get for dog shows. The reason why their hair is cut that way is because Poodles use to be a sporting breed used for hunting and retrieving. Those puff balls on them are covering their important organs and joints to withstand cold temperature and water.
When I was a groomer I would have two of my favorite Poodle's come in, Django and Cocoa. Cocoa would get an all over length cut which means it is the same length over her entire body. While Django would get a lamb cut, which is where the length of the fur is longer on the legs than the body. Another difference between their hair cuts is Django gets a clean face and clean feet. The term clean is used to describe the short length of the snout and feet.

Rhodesian Ridgeback
One of the breeds I listed in my favorites was a Rhodesian Ridgeback. In my career with dogs I have only met a handful of Rhodesians but the ones I have met I have fallen in love with. Here is a little background on the breed;
- They were bred to be good family protection and loyal hunting dogs, one of the main game they would hunt were lions.
- They have developed the nickname the African Lion Hound.
- They were bred to have enough stamina to keep up on the hunts, so they are a very high energy breed.
- They are extremely intelligent and highly trainable.
- One unique feature of the breed is the ridge of hair which grows forward on the back only.
- They got recognized by AKC in 1955.
This is Zola, she is a Rhodesian Ridgeback that comes and boards where I work. She is a great example for the breed, as she has the ridge of hair on her back (which is quite soft), and she can run for days! Although sometimes her running looks more like a deer frolicking through a meadow. She also knows when to be a mellow girl, and go take a nice power nap before her next adventure.

Freyja The Baby Kitten
I know this a dog blog, but I figured I would show off my other fur child.
Freyja is our Siamese mix kitten who is about 4 months old. Her name comes from the Old Norse meaning "Lady". That was the name of the goddess of love, beauty, war and death in Norse Mythology. Also, her coloring is called Tortieshell which is commonly confused with a Calico. The difference between the two is Calico cats have prominently white on them where Tortieshell's are mainly black.

For my job, I am basically a doggie Uber. I drive all over West Seattle to pick up dogs for daycare. They get to have 25 acres of property to run and play on. My two dogs both ride shotgun and there's a picture of how they lay with each other. The white German Shepherd in the back is Apollo, he is one of my every day dogs to pick up.

Civil Rights Activism Essay
Martin Luther King Junior and Malcolm X were both ministers and civil right activists. They both made a huge impact on the civil rights movement for United States. They each wanted to help improve the equal rights for everyone no matter their skin color. They wanted themselves and their families and everyone to live and coexist in peace.
Malcolm Little was born to a Louise and Earl little, who was an active member of the Universal Negro Improvement Association. Due to his father being a activist their family was subjected to tons of harassment from white supremacist groups. Ultimately leading to their house getting burnt down from racist mobs and white firemen not helping. A couple years after that Earl was found dead over streetcar tracks, even though it was ruled an accident his family knew he was murdered. His wife was admitted to a mental institute resulting in their children being put into foster care. Even though a white couple adopted Malcolm and he excelled in school, he dropped out of school and fell into the wrong crowd selling drugs, resulting in his arrest in 1946. With his time in prison he decided to read and educate himself while also getting visitation from his siblings who joined the Nation of Islam, because they believed in securing their freedom and justice. Upon his release from prison he decided to join the Nation of Islam and changed is name from Malcolm Little to Malcolm X.
Martin Luther King Junior became a minister to follow not only in his fathers footsteps but in his grandfathers footsteps. His family tried to protect him from the racism but ultimately they could not shield him from it. During the Montgomery Bus Boycott Rosa Parks was riding the bus after a long day of work and was demanded to give up her seat on the bus and she refused. Due to her refusal she was arrested for violating the Montgomery City Code. After that happened the head of the NAACP met with Martin Luther King Junior to become the leader of the boycott because of his well educated background and young personality. After becoming the leader he realized that they had no other choice than to protest. He didn't want to see his children grow up in a community that didn't see them as equals. After that and the victory of the Montgomery City Code lifting the segregated transportation Martin Luther and many other activists created the Southern Christian Leadership Conference to help conduct non violent protests to get the civil rights act moving.
Between Martin Luther King Junior and Malcolm X they both had very different starts into becoming an activist but one thing they both had in common were fathers who believed in having equal rights. While MLK went to college and got an education, Malcolm dropped out and went to prison which led him into reading and educating himself. At one point MLK said that Malcolm did the community a disservice because he was willing to anything including violence to get the point across. Which was a different than MLK who wanted peaceful protests. Even thought they both had different views and ways to go about the civil rights they both made an impact with the communities to come together as one.
Tragically when Malcolm was trying to drastically trying to make an impact on the civil rights movement he was assassinated. On February 21, 1965 Malcolm was going to give a speech. He was shot fifteen times and was rushed to hospital where they announced is death at arrival. In 1968, Martin Luther King Junior was growing tired of the marches and continuous death threats. He decided to attend one more march to spark things back up with the civil rights movement. On April 3rd he gave one last speech to spark the movement and on April 4th he was standing on the balcony of the motel he was staying in and was assassinated. Both of these inspirational men had different methods of moving forward to get equal rights but they both shared the same passion for equality. Their efforts they put it and their assassinations actually helped spark something they both could never imagine. Now people look up to them as inspirational leaders and appreciate all of their hard work to get the country we are in now.

Hey everyone, this is Kaylinn and I decided to make my blog about dogs. Ever since I was a little girl I always had a passion for dogs no matter what size they were or what they looked like. I am happy to say that I have pursued that passion by working in the dog industry for 7 years and plan to further my education to have a steady career in this field. Pictured below our my boys, on the left is Lt. Aldo Raine, he is a 3 year old German Shepherd and Pomeranian Mix and on the right is Ruger, he is a 1 year old Miniature Australian Shepherd (who isn't that mini at all). I do not have any kids yet so these two are my babies!
